Experience what South Florida barrier islands looked like a century ago. Join this tour of our carefully restored preserve to discover its unique features and learn how The Nature Conservancy is protecting natural habitats for nature and people.
Participants will meet the Tour Lead at the front steps of the Hawley Education Center to check-in. The tour will begin inside the HEC exhibit hall before embarking on a journey through the mangrove forest on the lagoon boardwalk to view the Indian River Lagoon, then cross the street to travel down the ocean trail through the maritime hammock to end at the beach dune to see the rock formation. Along the way we will discuss restoration efforts, plants and animals of importance, The Nature Conservancy’s local and worldwide conservation efforts, and ways you can help protect our natural resources.
